Margriet Ruurs

Margriet Ruurs wants to help children make a difference. Ruurs, author of more than 30 books, has shared her work with children around the world and seen firsthand how it’s often young people who initiate positive change. In The Elephant Keeper, Ruurs tells the true story of Aaron, a boy who rescues a baby elephant from drowning despite being raised to think of the animals as dangerous to humans and their crops. Kids will be inspired by this tale of environmental stewardship, and eager for tips on how they can help endangered wildlife. Ruurs will also share the story behind Stepping Stones: A Refugee Family’s Journey, her altruistic picture book for all ages. Join Ruurs for a ranging discussion on how you can make a difference.
