The Vancouver Writers Fest presents
WAYNE GRADY, MERILYN SIMONDS
Moderator: Hal Wake
The Grady-Simonds household is a productive one. These married novelists, between them, have written more than thirty books and countless articles and essays. During a congenial conversation with former Artistic Director Hal Wake, they discuss their new books, creative processes, and how their close relationship contributes to the writerly life. Fans of these stalwarts of Canadian writing will discover the arresting story of the son of a southern plantation owner attempting to reconcile with his past in Wayne Grady’s Up From Freedom. Merilyn Simonds’s Refuge is similarly page-turning, exploring the relationship between an older woman asked for refuge by someone claiming to be her kin. Both promise an evening as candid and warm as you’d expect from old friends.
