Vancouver Writers Fest

34. Poetry Three Ways

The Vancouver Writers Fest presents

Moderator: Kirsten Pendreigh

Prepare to be mesmerized by the power of words and the mind-bending creativity of these poets on the page, on the stage or on the screen. Fiona Tinwei Lam’s video poems, one titled Plasticnic, about plastic and its growing impact on our environment, are sure to catch kids’ eyes. Dana I.D. Matthews also propels words from the page—this time with his voice. The emcee and spoken word poet speaks about his upbringing in Haiti and Ontario in two albums, Hippies & Aliens and Scraped Knees. Heather T. Smith’s rhythms are just as original, swirling as free verse in Ebb & Flow, already described as one of the “best books of the year” by Quill & Quire. Join us to discover how versatile poetry can really be.
