81. Dr. Brian Goldman in Conversation with Gloria Macarenko

The Vancouver Writers Fest presents

Should we add “kindness” to the list of rapidly depleting world resources? Harsh rhetoric and harsher actions worldwide may suggest so. CBC’s White Coat, Black Art host and emergency room physician Dr. Brian Goldman has another opinion. In The Power of Kindness: Why Empathy Is Essential in Everyday Life, he asks what it really means to act with kindness after realizing that his own bedside manner was anything but. From streets to research labs in Brazil, Japan and the United States, where Goldman seeks out the most empathetic people he can find, he questions whether empathy is learned or intrinsic and, ultimately, posits why kindness is so vital to our existence. Join this seasoned storyteller and scientist for a lift we could all use.
