Vancouver Writers Fest

8. Knowledge Unleashed

The Vancouver Writers Fest presents

CLAIRE EAMER, ELIZABETH SUNEBY

Our climate is changing rapidly and with unexpected consequences comes unexpected knowledge, too. Kids will be held rapt by award-winning Claire Eamer’s descriptions of millennia-old secrets unveiled by the melting of our ice. From traces of unknown plants to fascinating artefacts, these discoveries have created a brand-new scientific field called glacier archaeology. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Suneby shares how children can unveil their own talents in our evolving environment through the story of Iqbal: a keen young scientist who creates a solar-powered stove to help his family. With striking visuals, these authors make curiosity about our world and ourselves contagious.

Suitable for grades 3-6.
